Meet the people who run your Plan
Chris Hutchinson
Member-elected Trustee Director since August 2007
“Putting our members’ interest first"
What does super mean to you?
Super is an asset that I’m accumulating during my working life which
I will draw on in my retirement to enable me to continue to enjoy a
comfortable lifestyle.
What do you think is the most valuable feature of the Plan
for our members?
Being in a fund which is managed only for the benefit of us, the
members, and not to generate a profit. This results in low member fees
and insurance premiums whilst providing a high level of service.
What do you appreciate most about being a Director on the Plan?
Learning from the experience of other directors who have a different skill
set to mine whilst also being able to offer the benefits of the skill set I
have developed over the last 25 years and apply it to achieve outcomes
that are in the members best interests.
What have you learnt about super during your time as a
Director of the Plan?
The only thing that is constant is change. The legislative changes,
demographic shifts and financial market volatility have and will see the
super landscape continue to change. This drives an ongoing requirement
to educate both trustees and members.

"Adapting to change"
What does super mean to you?
To me, superannuation means everyone having the ability to secure a comfort able future for themselves and their families.
What do you think is the most valuable feature of the Plan for our members?
That it offers various investment options to cater for the changing needs of our members from commencement as a young, new employee, throughout employment, to retirement and transition to retirement.
What do you appreciate most about being a Director on the Plan?
There has been a significant amount of change occurring in the superannuation industry over the past few years to ensure the future security of superannuation. I have appreciated being involved in the changing governance requirements of our plan to ensure we meet these requirements – despite the volumes of Committee and Board papers!
What have you learnt about super during your time as a Director of the Plan?
One thing I find interesting is the magnitude of funds collectively invested in the superannuation industry, and how rapidly it is growing - and therefore what that means for future Plan investment options and choices.

"Educating our members"
I have been part of the super team for six years and with the company for eight and a half. Superannuation is a valuable asset for all our members, helping them both whilst working, through the Plan’s insurance cover, and through to retirement. My role is to educate members on superannuation in general and the many benefits of being part of a corporate Plan. Our Plan is not for profit and run for the benefit of our members.
It is great to be part of a fantastic team of dedicated professionals working to run the Plan for the benefit of all of you, our members.

"Contribute sooner rather than later"
My retirement plan is to travel, relax and stay healthy and I intend to live a long, active retirement, so my super has to last a long time! Having a company plan run by the members who are employees is really valuable. Over ten years as a Plan member, I’ve learnt to be flexible and patient, knowing super earnings can rise and fall. But I’ve found it’s important to start to contribute sooner rather than later.

"The Plan gives me options"
Retirement to me is all about freedom, family and travel and my super gives me that financial security to make it happen. The Plan makes it easy to add extra payments on ESS to help grow my super. Plus the Plan’s pension product gives me options in how I take my super in retirement, rather than in one lump sum.

"Super means freedom and financial security"
I’ve been a Plan member for eight years. Like everyone, I want to have the freedom to travel and spend time with my family when I stop work. It’s up to me to make sure I can to afford a comfortable income during retirement. That’s why it’s great being able to make extra contributions to my super, so I’ll have financial security for retirement.
